2010 CARNIVAL CONTINUES
Although Trinidad Carnival 2010 has come to a bitter sweet end, it doesn't stop here. MU is gearing up for a full year of fetes, local Carnivals and Festivals in the US, and giving back to our community. The days are getting longer and soon enough the sun will be warming up our days and nights. Carnival 2010 is over and if there is one word to describe the vibes and the feeling that ebbed throughout the Carnival Season its "PALANCE!!!" Young and Old we all shouted at the top of our lungs while jumpin up left then jumpin up to the right in beautiful and extraordinary unrehearsed synchronization down the roads of Port of Spain. The song blared from every speaker system on every truck on every corner! By Carnival Monday Afternoon it was indeed known that Palance would be our Road March for Carnival 2010. So, what does it mean to Palance really? To Palance as defined by many facebook users has been "partyin or sumtin so" but the common definition that is widely accepted by most Carnival go-ers is "to wander in endless search of a lime." We have all been palancin' for years, but I appreciate the masterminds behind the marvelous 2010 road march, JW and Blaze for bringing ight to the grand display of festiveness by all masqueraders united in an amazing display of "partyin or sumtin so." Now that the Carnival 2010 season is over, and we have taken our last Palance, can we get back to the whinin'?! Because as Lennox Grant of the Trinidad Express stated: "A whine is a terrible thing to waste!"
